Call for Sessions

Purpose
To solicit innovative and clinically relevant session topics from the ASHT membership and colleagues.

Audience and Topics
Proposals for sessions should address the needs of: hand therapists, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, and other healthcare providers specializing in hand/upper extremity therapy. Topics may focus on clinical care and practice management for the novice to experienced hand therapist.
Method
All session proposals will be reviewed by the ASHT Annual Meeting Committee, which will consider the merits of the proposal as well as the balance of topics presented at the meeting in making decisions to accept or reject a proposal.
Session Formats
1.) Pre-conference Institutes (concurrent workshops):
Preconference Institutes are either four (4) hours in length with a fifteen (15) minute break after the first two hours or eight (8) hours in length with a fifteen (15) minute break after the first two (2) hours, a lunch break after four (4) hours and a fifteen (15) minute break during the last two (2) hours. Workshops must plan for fifty (50) percent of interactive discussion time throughout the workshop and may not utilize more than a single meeting room.

2.) Concurrent Instructional Courses:
Sessions are either one (1) hour in length with fifty (50) minutes for presentation and ten (10) minutes for interactive discussion or two (2) hours in length with a hundred and ten (110) minutes for presentation and ten (10) minutes for interactive discussion. Sessions may not utilize more than a single meeting room and will be placed during a concurrent session time period.
The ASHT 35th Annual Meeting will be accredited and therefore the essentials for planning a continuing education meeting must be followed. Faculty may not independently solicit funding for the program from industry, the government, or agencies without prior approval from the ASHT Board of Directors.
Please note:
Members of ASHT will be given preference for having sessions accepted. Exceptional ideas from non-members including therapists, surgeons, and other professionals may be accepted, a non-member is encouraged to partner with a member for a workshop.
